Nicolas Ty Architects

A few images from the website. 'We are not limited by the size of a project or the sector of work as we retain focus, high quality, innovation and sustainability in all our design solutions'. A quote from the website.
The architecture -exterior and interior- are very truth to materials such as the wooden timbers. This adds to the simplicity of the designs. As you can see from the first picture, the interior is kept minimalist, and the colour pallete is also very limited. The wood panneling on the exterior seems very scandinavian, which is very modern, and the lack of detaling adds to this. I personannly love the size of windows, it adds to the modern feel and natural light is a key feature in any modern buildings.

Morrocan Lighting for Sample Board project

For John's Sample Board project, I've chosen to have pretty Moroccan lighting. I particularly like the bottom image. As I will have quite plain furnishings and wall papers etc, I thought having a statement light would look quite impressive. The lights are modern, but also quite traditional because of the pattern.

Modern Moroccan restaurants - Sample board project

I found these photos while researching for a sample board project, of which  I have chosen to design an Moroccan restaurant.. I love the simplicity of the design.
For my sample board, I want the colours to be clean, for example monochrome to me is very modern, sleek and sophisticated. If I add one or two colours to this it will look even better. These colours could picked up in the furnishings or lighting.
I originally thought that it would be difficult to create a modern Moroccan interior, but after looking at these into it and finding these photos, I realized that its quite easy. The second photo is how I would like my restaurant to appear. The colours are very calm and chilled as I would like mine to be, with warm lighting and a pool to add to the calmness. Obviously there will be no pool, but I could use rippled glass or one of that effect.

Morph Chandelier

The Morph Chadelier designed by Alicja Wasielewska I think it stunning!
It looks to me, like dew covered spider webs. I love how its random, there seems to be no pattern, the coils sprout anywhere and everywhere. On the down side, I'm not so keen on the shade of light the chandelier emits. The neon colour does make it look very impressive, but its is more decorative than functional, but I still really like it because of its wackyness.

The Deer Shelter

This shelter is designed by the same awarding company as the Olso Opera House which I wrote my Contextual study essay on.
I like the way the seating in and outside the shelter looks almost weather beaten -just like the mountains behind. The truth to materials also adds to the design, making me think of typical Scandinavian architecture and design.

People

I like putting black and white people in visuals, as they don't detract from the picture. They also look smarter than coloured people within a visual.

New Routemaster for London 2012.

This cool new futuristic design for the London bus makes something so normal that you would just walk past into something crazy, new and exciting. Thomas Heatherwick's new design of the London bus is modern and sleek, compared to the clumsy body of the normal London buses.

Design dialogues

MOVEMENT/TIME to me is something that is fluid, and can change at anytime.
There are 2 pages from my sketch book and my poster for this project.
