Cy Twombly 1928-2011

I love the sheer size of Cy Twombly's paintings.
I also love how messy they are, the flowers are not obviously flowers, and that's why I think I like his work. They are very expressive, and also quite abstract. I like how the bottom painting has words on the canvas, it adds depth to the painting, instead of it being just 'of flowers', it has a more intent meaning to it.
The colours are very soft, giving the piece a calm subtlety.

Rainbow Tape Installations

I'm generally not interested in the instillation such as Tracey Emin, but this one by Rebecca Ward is much more interesting than others. I firstly like the colours. Primary colours, are to me very attractive, as they are so simple. Ward uses them to her advantage instead of letting the colours over-rule her work. The shapes she has used, and the space within it are all very interesting.
I particularly like the bottom photo of the tape suspended in a stair well, as there is more happening, as people on stairs are always moving, and the fact that the instillation is so still contradicts this.

Yorkshire Sculture Park

I've always been keen on photography, so I was excited when we were told we would take a trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park for inspiration for our next. I have been a few times before with my family, and about 1 week before to see this same exhibition. Here are my personal favorite images from the day.

Vodo Bar, Huddersfield

The wood paneling at the back of the booth seating makes an interesting change from wall paper or paint. The chunks of wood that cover the walls are large pieces of chip board, and are glued together and jut out at different angles. It gives the wall an interesting feature.

Movement and Time

Some photos of mine from models I made for the project 'Design Monologs - Movement and Time'.
